Meet Dr. Audrey Egan
Dr. Egan was introduced to chiropractic at the age of 12 when her parents started taking her for treatments with the family chiropractor. This was the foundation of her goal to help patients of all ages.
In 1991, Dr. Egan graduated cum Laude from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German. She spent her Junior year abroad at Universitaet Hamburg, Germany. As a busy college student, Dr. Egan was reacquainted with chiropractic when she received relief from neck and arm pain associated with long hours studying.
After working 3 years as a chiropractic assistant in San Francisco, Dr. Egan began her studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. At Palmer West she was class representative to the student government, student representative to the California Chiropractic Association, and an active member of the Pediatrics Club.
Dr. Egan interned with a Pediatric chiropractic specialist and thus began her specialized training in pediatrics and pregnancy. Dr. Egan received additional post-graduate training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. She was trained in the Webster technique for pregnant mothers, preparing the body for easier delivery and repositioning the constrained or breech fetus.
Through National University of Health Sciences she received additional post-graduate training in the adjustment of the joints beyond the spine: ankles, wrists, etc. When necessary, Dr. Egan prescribes Orthotics to stabilize the foot, which helps with walking and balancing the rest of the body.
Dr. Egan specializes in a variety of techniques to treat patients of every age and walk of life. She uses hands-on techniques called Diversified Adjustments as well as gentler, light-force methods such as Activator, Craniosacral, Drop Table, and SOT blocks. Dr. Egan also uses various soft tissue therapies to alleviate muscle spasms and pain and to insure that the injuries heal properly and with the best motion possible.
Dr. Egan works with her patients on using proper body mechanics throughout the day: workstation design and set-up (Ergonomics), lifting skills and sleep position. Each patient also receives an individualized stretching and exercise program tailored to their body’s needs and abilities. She also makes nutritional recommendations.
Having discovered chiropractic care as a patient, Dr. Egan was able to feel the benefits of the adjustments and learn first-hand that:
-
Chiropractic is for everyone.
-
It’s easier to stay well than to get well.
-
And once a patient is out of pain, regular care will help keep them healthy and pain-free.
